For Round 2 in BVW ("Building Virtual World", the class of Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University), we are requested to give the player the feeling of freedom and we can not give any instruction to player (we can not tell how to play or how to solve the problem). Therefore, we designed the intuitive user interface to help players to know how to do, and different game levels from easy to hard let players engage the game.
So, we designed a crayon drawing game, inspired by the cartoon "Harold and the purple crayon". Because it is the popular cartoon of world, the player will be easy to understand they should use crayon to solve problem and complete each level.
I was responsible for scene design and game level design. In this game, We use Kinect to detect players' body motion to decide if they are drawing. It is hard to detect the depth in Kinect, so I delivered my programming idea to help programers solving this problem. Moreover, we made the props, crayon and flag, to let players feel more engaged during the gameplay.
